Week of 9/23

  This week we used comments in Google docs for our writing,   It allows us to provide feedback to improve our writing as well as learn technology skills.   We will continue to use Google this year.   In writing we worked on using transitions to improve our writing as well as a checklist to revise.   In reading we continued our routines of independent reading,  and wrote a letter to share our thinking while we read.   In math we started using rounding to estimate sums and differences along with adding and subtracting whole numbers.  In science we continued our study of erosion and weathering and how they affect the surface of the  Earth.

We have a new Reading Log.  Please have your child share his/her reading log with you.

Your child should read for at least 20 minutes nightly and sign the reading log.

READING TIP OF THE WEEK:

Kids are more likely to read about what they find really interesting.  Don’t worry if it’s a newspaper, magazine, cookbook or an illustrated novel. Just remember in order to become better at reading you just need to READ, READ, READ!!!!
