Shelley from Link to Library came to visit.  In connection with Black History month, she read the story, A Home Run for Bunny by Richard Anderson.  This story is about the true story of a baseball team from Springfield, Massachusetts.  After winning the 1934 New England Championships, the team travels to Gastonia, North Carolina to play in the championships, however, racial prejudice makes the team choose whether to stay and play for the championship without their best player Bunny Taliaferro or go home giving up their dreams for a teammate.
There is a monument with the names of the 1934 players and coaches at Forest Park baseball field.  It stands down the left field line of the field.
